Hiding the "badges" menu in a Canvas course

When Badgr is installed across an entire Canvas Account, a Badges menu item is available in the course navigation for every course by default. Or Badgr may be installed for an account, but the menu item may be hidden by default (see details). Teachers may hide or unhide this menu to control whether or not Badgr is available in each specific course.

If Badgr is not installed for an entire department or institution, you may still add it to a single course. See Adding Badgr to an individual Canvas Course.

To display the Badgr App if it is installed but not enabled by default:
  1. Confirm that your Canvas administrator has installed Badgr for your Account or Sub-Account.
  2. Navigate to the course that you would like to enable badges.
  3. Select the Settings option from the left-side course navigation.
  4. Select the Navigation tab
  5. Look for Badges in the list of items, among the disabled items at the bottom.
  6. Select the gear icon, then select Enable.
  7. Select Save, and refresh the page. Observe that the Badges tab is now available in the left-side course navigation menu.

To disable the Badgr app in a course:

Sometimes Badgr may be installed for all courses at an institution, but a teacher may wish to disable it for a specific course. In this case, the teacher may perform the following steps:

  1. Follow the above steps through step 4.
  2. Look for Badges in the list of items.
  3. Select the gear icon, then select Disable.
  4. Select Save, and refresh the page. Observe that the Badges tab is now available in the left-side course navigation menu.
